“Since I was a little boy, I dreamed of being an Artist and a Musician so my life is a dream come true!”

Born in a small village in Southern New Mexico and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, I was fortunate enough to get the best of two worlds. Music and Art. My mother and father were both accomplished musicians but it was my mother who had an eye for the Arts. Along with teaching me piano, she made sure that I always had the best art supplies and education. She always displayed my latest creations in her office and told everyone of my art skills. By the time we moved to Las Vegas in 1972, I was already known as “Stevie The Artist”.

Through my school years, I was lucky to have the greatest art teachers including Mr. Leroy Parker, who was my Commercial Design instructor at Valley High School from my freshman year through my senior year. Not only was I taught sound art fundamentals, he directed me towards graphic design for commercial use. Mr. Parker entered me in many local, state, and national design contests which I won many. In that same art class, I was privileged to rub elbows with, learn from, and become friends with very talented artists including Jon Hul, Dennis Mathewson, Kerin Shelbourne, and Jennifer Shofner who also became great artists.

After college, I quickly entered the work force. I was hired as a Scenic Artist painting large scale backdrops for a Las Vegas convention company. That is were I crossed paths with a very talented sign artist named, Ed Samples. He was an ol’ school sign painter from Chicago who took me under his wing and taught me a vintage art form of hand lettering, sign painting, gold leafing, sign design, and pin striping. That is when my career took off!

With the new addition to my talents, I quickly got hired for my sign designs at many Las Vegas casinos including The Las Vegas Hilton, The Sahara, The Frontier Hotel, Fitzgeralds, The Dunes, The Desert Inn, The Stardust, The Tropicana, The Fremont, Boyd Gaming, Boomtown/Silverton, and Caesars Entertainment to name a few. My art and designs have also been utilized in many businesses like Las Vegas Athletic Clubs, Rancho Florist, Paradise Florist, Fallon Chiropractic, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, The 4 Kegs, Porchlight Pub, Vegas Golden Knights, Grape Expectations, and Vegas Valley Winery, etc. I’ve also designed for entertainers like Siegfried & Roy, Bella Electric Strings, The Solid Suns, Jonathan Gilcrest, Frank Zak, Barron Stringfellow, Beau & Arrow, and Jim Campbell, and many more!
